Behavior Management Plan
On the first day of school the children and I made a list of rules for our classroom.
The list of rules is posted in our classroom. They are as follows:
1. I will keep my hands, feet, and all objects to myself.
2. I will walk in the building at all times.
3. I will not talk when the teacher is talking.
4. I will raise my hand. I will not shout out, yell, or blurt out.
5. I will use my best manners.
6. I will be kind and respectful.
7. I will listen and follow directions.
8. I will be honest.
Since lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, as a 2nd grade team, we have developed a classroom discipline plan which affords guidance in making good decisions about behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a positive nurturing classroom environment.
Each day every child starts with their clip on green, Ready to Learn. If they chose not to follow the class rules they will be asked to clip down. When they move their clip the first time they will move it to Think About It. If the behavior continues they will continue to clip down following steps below.
1. Think about it
2. Teacher’s Choice
3. Parent Contact – Parent will receive a note in the agenda.
If the behavior continues, the student will complete a Starling Elementary Behavior Improvement Plan.
Students that clip down will have the opportunity to correct their behavior. If the student changes their behavior the student will be allowed to clip up. All behavior will be recorded in the agenda daily. Students that clip to Outstanding will receive a jewel sticker to place on their clip. Once five jewel stickers are earned the student’s clip will move into the Clip Hall of Fame and the student will receive a new clip. Below is an example of the chart in our classroom.
Pink - Outstanding
Purple - Great Job
Blue - Good Job
Green - Ready to Learn
Yellow - Think About It
Orange - Teacher’s Choice
Red - Parent Contact
